The laundry room is one area that tends to get a little cluttered. Whether you toss your dirty laundry in there or use it to store various things, finding ways to maximize the space is the key laundry room organization!
- A quick way to add more space is to install a few shelves. If your laundry area does not come equipped with cabinets, then shelving will give more areas to store things. Installing a long wire rack above your machines is a great way to store detergents, an iron, dryer sheets, and other miscellaneous things.
- Maximize the space around your washer and dryer. For example, I have some room to the left of my washing machine and the right of my dryer. I have a clothes drying rack stored on one side and the ironing board on the other. This way they are easy to access and for me it is the most obvious place to find them.
- Now, if you really want to make great use of the shelving suggestion I made before, then invest in a few plastic storage boxes. Buying a few plastic boxes is a great way to store things like your cleaning cloths, delicate bags, laundry pegs and other items you like to keep grouped together. For me, the worst thing is having to rummage around looking for a clean cloth to dust with.
- One quick fix to keep all that lint and dryer sheets at bay is to buy a tiny little garage can for your laundry area. Let me tell you, for some reason no one in the household can find the trash can in the kitchen or in the bathroom when they are emptying the lint area. It somehow always gets stored on top of the dryer. Having a little trash can in your laundry area will make it easy to keep it clean and lint free. That’s the idea anyway!
