Depending on the material used and the chosen color, curtains too can block light or they may be proved with a liner to get the desired effect, but they certainly are unable to restrict noise to the expected level.
The location of the window also matters while deciding the type of covering. It could be in a high traffic area. You also have to keep in mind its maintenance. You may also like to consider if you have children at home.
And finally’ let’s consider the aesthetic part. Certain decors look better with blinds while at times curtains add to the decor. For example a room in an oriental style of decoration would give a better look with bamboo blinds or shades than curtains. Keep the overall look that you like to give to the room while deciding window coverings.
