Decorate Your Entryway For A Good First Impression

The first thing that visitors see when they enter your home is your entry way.  Many people leave this area bare and neglected, which doesn’t give a visitor the best first impression of your home.  The good thing is that it doesn’t take much to spruce the area up and can be done very well on a tight budget.

An entryway’s shape will determine what fits best, some are an actual room whereas others are just a small corridor.  Either way a table of some sort is a good idea.  This gives the area a much more finished look, and offers somewhere to drop off your keys and mail when you walk in the door.  The table doesn’t have to be fancy or expensive.  Most people will use something that is taller than normal tables and narrower so that it has more impact without taking up too much space.

Decorating the table is up to you.  Many people choose a glass art piece that is easy to maintain and display.  Small statues and collectables are also common.  My favorite piece is a large glass bowl that has faux fruit or other display in it.

Blank walls are never friendly either.  A large art piece will make a great first impression on new visitors to your home.  If you can’t afford the real thing, a framed replica or reprint art piece looks great in any entry way.  Many people shy away from pictures of family here, but I think that’s totally acceptable.  If you already have things on your walls in an area that doesn’t get much love in your home, moving that to the entry way is a great idea.

It really doesn’t take much to decorate an entry, but it has a huge impact on the overall feel of your home.  There are so many things that you can do – it’s just important that you do something rather than leave it blank and empty.
